BasicWatch for iPhone and Apple Watch · Updated 28 October 2026

Short version: BasicWatch has no account, no ads and no tracking. Your designs, pictures and progress stay on your iPhone and Apple Watch. We don't collect or sell any personal data.

What stays on your devices

Designs, imported pictures and sprite sheets, creator cards and library favourites are saved inside the app on your devices. Ordinary app files and settings may be included in your own device backups (iCloud or computer), which Apple or you control.

Steps (Health)

If you allow it on your watch, BasicWatch reads today's step total from Health to show your goal progress and award XP. It never writes to Health. Step totals, daily XP records and summaries are kept on your devices, excluded from backups, and sent only to your paired iPhone for previews. You can turn steps off in BasicWatch settings on the watch, and remove access any time in the Health or Settings app.

Weather and location

Local weather is optional. With your permission, the iPhone asks for your approximate location while BasicWatch is open and sends it to Apple's WeatherKit to get conditions. Your coordinates are not saved in designs and are not sent to the watch; only the weather conditions and their time are. You can turn this off in the app or in iPhone Settings.

Sharing and importing

When you share a design, the .basic file contains that design, its creator card and any pictures it needs. It never contains your steps, XP history or weather. Apps you share with (AirDrop, Messages and others) handle the file under their own policies. If you import from a web link you paste, your iPhone contacts that website directly, which can see ordinary connection details such as your IP address.

What we collect

Nothing. BasicWatch has no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs and no server of its own. If you email us, we use your message only to reply.

Deleting your data

Delete designs in Library, remove imported content in the app, and reset trainer progress in Settings › Privacy. Deleting the app removes its data from that device; remove it from both the iPhone and the watch to clear everything. Files you exported and copies others received must be deleted separately.

Children

BasicWatch doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
